We took a fun and much needed girls getaway to Chicago this past weekend. Even though everything that could go wrong on the first day did (including standing for five hours in a massive, hot crowd and getting sick during a concert), we made up for it with a timely late-night run to McDonald's, hilarious moments back at the hotel, and ending the trip with an afternoon in downtown Oak Park.
(I've never stopped in Oak Park before but loved everything from the shops - like
Paper Source, a must-visit store! - to the
Lake Theatre and tree lined streets with charming houses. Oh, and there's a
Chipotle, you know it doesn't get any better.. :)

Chicago is so much fun. Glad you got to get away!
Oh my! That paper store looks divine...
I love Paper Source! It's one of my favorite stores :)
I love Chicago. I feel like I only saw one tiny sliver of it so I can't wait to go back.
kenny is from chicago and we love going back to visit his family there. so much to see and do, especially in the summer. and what i wouldnt give for some chipoltle right now.
Come back anytime, love my city <3
I think that is the most beautiful picture of the ugly skyway I've ever seen! And yes, Oak Park is absolutely beautiful. I never went to the Frank Lloyd Wright tours like I wanted, but I think we have enough trips to Chicago in our future to make it happen! Glad you made the most of it - being sick at a concert sounds like the worst scenario!!
Oh and yes, Paper Source rules. I got all our invitation supplies from there and they all went nuts over my invitation once I had them printed :)
Hey is that Mat Kearney?? I've seen him live so many times and, aside from the unbearable ego, he is an outstanding artist!!

How fun!! My aunt lives in Oak Park and I've practically grown up there! It's such a great city! Quaint with an urban flair. Glad you enjoyed a girls weekend! xo
I love that picture of the Skyway sign - the colours are beautiful. Wish I could head off on a girls' trip to Chicago - although, coming from NZ, I'd have much further to go!

Oh, I love Chicago and I LOVE Oak Park. I used to be an interpreter at the Frank Lloyd Wright Home & Studio. We got special access to the privately owned FLW homes in the neighborhood one time and it was amazing. My sister and I oogled over the amazing architecture and the lifestyles we will never able to afford. But yes, OP and Chi-town are great. I'm glad you had a great time!
