summer sale

This weekend we're having a yard sale, and somehow I've already gathered a ton of stuff to say goodbye to since last year's big sale.

All in an effort to simplify and live with less, I've been clearing out everything I can from our closets and may have gotten carried away...blankets? who needs those in the summer. this chair? no one really sits in it anyway. Not to mention, I find a weird satisfaction in organizing everything for display. Anyone else like having yard sales, or just find it not worth all the effort?

Photos above of the first sale I hosted at my house last summer! Happy weekend.

I am planning one later this month actually, and I love displaying it all! Good luck! :)

Boy, your yard sale last summer looked so cute! I've had a few over the years in my hometown. They're always a fun way to de-clutter, chat with friendly folks and eat some watermelon while you're at it. Have fun Alli!

Oh my gosh...that was you? I have always thought that was the most amazing "yard" sale I ever did see. I'd have bought half your stuff just because you went to all the trouble of making it look so pretty! wowie! xo

So adorable! I used to have a older, lady babysitter who would take me to yard sales, give me a dollar and help me bargain for things. I would definitely have liked this one. What a cute little setup on the porch!

Wow your yard sale looks so professional! I hope it went well :) Don't you think when everything is displayed so nicely you want to keep it again? :P

hope you had a successful yard sale. It's true they are a lot of work but I get satisfaction in making a little $ instead of just throwing the stuff out. I also donate everything that doesn't sell so that I can just simplify my life like you said.

Off to go check out your 1st sale - from what it looks like you made it look so lovely. How creative of you!

I'm with the others, I remember last year's sale and can't believe it has been a year since! Time flies. My home office is piled with yard sale goods that my mom has asked me to 'hold on to' til she can get her junk gathered to host a joint sale. Although I grew up yardsaling every weekend with her, there have admittedly been a couple of times this past week when I have wanted to donate the lot and clear my room! :) My mantra is It'll All Be Worth The Patience and Effort. Hope yours was a success!

Alli, after moving across the country I was so close to giving everything away and starting fresh. Getting rid of things you don't use and simplifying your life is such a great feeling! I am continually trying to do so!

Bummer, I missed it! You should do an etsy "yard sale"! That'd be fun. I'm so impressed by your ability to clean out! It's something I need and really want to do but I get so overwhelmed and don't want to actually do it! You're helping me get motivated...xo

Hubby and I have held sales in the past, but they are a lot of work and take too much of our time (we'd rather be doing other things). Plus now that we're rural again, it's hard to get enough traffic to make holding a yard sale worthwhile, even hosting with neighbors.

Would love to have visited your sale. :-)
