I've been thinking about this great post Mary wrote on Olivet about simple, slow living and it prompted me to write this. Sometimes blogging about design on a regular basis feels like it idolizes things, when my real goal with blogging is to find, share, and appreciate creativity, art, & design. Does anyone else feel that way? I'd like to continue covering those topics but also share how they fit into a creative lifestyle, instead of just being "stuff". Lately we've been trying to simplify our home, organize, and eat healthier, and all of those things are part of living a creative lifestyle. So, for the amount of time that goes into keeping up a blog it's at least worth a try to change the focus a little. Anyway, thanks for reading - those are just some random thoughts for this Tuesday. Back to my nutella sandwich. :-)

I totally agree with you Alli. It can be a challenge but purposeful blogging is my goal-whether its providing inspiration, creativity, or promotion of other people.
I find your blog to be very helpful already in promoting simple creative living. Keep up the amazing work~
mmmm Nutella :)
True. True. Needed to be reminded of this today, as I was feeling so want-ey of stuff. I didn't know what, just something. It was a wicked case of wanteyness and this helped mellow it. And yum. Nutella.
Anna: 'purposeful blogging' is a great way of putting it. Thanks!
Krystle + Quindome: I KNOW - nutella is amazing :)
Great post Alli. I frustrate myself with how much I get caught up in beautiful things by blogging. Yet the point is to appreciate creativity and design. Thanks for sharing! xo
Alli - I missed seeing you yesterday and was thinking about you. Thanks for this post - I agree with you wholeheartedly about how much time blogging can take up and I find myself very conflicted about encouraging others to idolatry rather than purposeful or joyful living.
I started my blog with the intention of "sharing" things I like/great finds/food ideas, etc. because I get stopped frequently and always find myself sharing ideas with friends as well so thought - well I'll just write it all down and we can record it and it'll be fun.
But I'm so happy to hear you speak about maintaining a balanced life and taking a step back to examine. The Chef and I hold one another accountable for this and I appreciate your bringing this up.
Hope you're enjoying that nutella...speaking of which I think you've just inspired me! :)

over the last few months my blog has definitely shifted from personal babbling towards what it means to live a colorful, creative life. i've really loved finding new sources of inspiration. like your blog!
:)
lovely post, my dear!

I hear you on the "things". When I was little I would go to Target and buy all sorts of things that I didn't really need. Makeup, shampoo, notebooks, barettes, etc. I think that one of things that is nice about blogging is that now I really process everything, instead of just buying. I am always on the lookout for inspiration, so much so that it often times keeps me from actually following through with buying things. For example, I am going to nantucket this weekend... I spent so much time looking for the perfect dress to wear that i basically ran myself ragged and dint buy anything :)
I find so much more pleasure in doing things than buying things that shopping has almost become a dreaded event. This is sort of a blessing though because mow I spend so much more of my time making/creating! Glad to know i am not the only one.
PS this is the longest comment EVER!
First, there is no shame in the nutella sandwich. Also, I 100% agree. I so desire a life like that. Simple and low stress.
I loved Mary's post adn agree with Anna, I think your blog already expresses a simple, creative lifestyle. But I'd love to see what you've got in mind. Thanks for blogging Alli!
Agree with both these posts and comments. I too have recently been forced to reassess the way I live and as a result there have been some changes in my blogging content to reflect more the simple joys in my life as well as some lovely things to look at. Looking forward to seeing what chnages you make in your quest for purposeful blogging.

I've been doing the same thing here lately, trying to simply what we have and declutter. I love your blog and the posts you write - I think you have a nice balance between living creatively and simply x
I just found your beautiful blog and kicked it off with a beautiful post. I love this, it truly is about the simple things in life and not so much "stuff". Simple pleasures and experiences, like the taste of nutella.
Looking forward to reading more of your blog, thank you.

Alli, I was prompted to share my "simplicity w/o TV" post because of this one you wrote. Thanks for inspiring!
Three cheers for getting rid of too much "stuff" in our lives.
Here here Ali. Thanks for the reminder, and the pause. xo.
Alli - I love it, right on! Cheers to the simple, pretty way of life :)
