Planning outdoor spaces can be challenging - a lot of the ideas I find are too commercial, expensive, or not quite my style. I'd like to finish our outdoor area this summer, so I've been gathering a few simple ideas: potted plants, strings of lights, and adding moss between patio pavers*.
I also made up a little floor plan of our current progress! A few details shown: last summer we built the tiny patio off our kitchen area (1) that runs along side our garage in the back. We put a retaining wall with yews on the outer edge for privacy (2), and also added a built-in garden box for our tomato and pepper plants (3). This leaves a space just big enough for a round table & four chairs (4). It's small, but kind of cozy.
*Hopefully adding moss between the pavers will give it a nice rustic look, balanced out with some modern accessories (more on those in the following post).

Your plan seriously looks good enough to eat. It really looks like an awesome cake or ice cream concoction!
Thanks, rooth! I wasn't sure if it looked totally silly, but it was fun to make.
What a beautiful outdoor space!! I love the idea of adding moss between the stones for a more organic look
I imagine you sitting out there with Q eating summery pasta and watching the daylight fade into firefly kingdom. Basically, can I invite myself over once it is completed? :-)
Oh my goodness, I love your little design! This is going to be just perfect. I want to come visit!!
ohh, i love your floor plan! i like your style and i can't wait to see what you do with the space!
i think you could probably make a business out of designing spaces and selling them as prints. ;)

Thank you so much for the kind words everyone!
